Project Linus: Central Texas quilters add to inventory for children’s charity
—
FLORENCE — Eight seamstresses, members of the Temple-Killeen Chapter of Project LINUS, met in Florence last weekend for a blanket-production retreat and finished 71 quilts for the nationwide children’s charity.
Local chapter coordinator Sandra Rowell of Harker Heights is the energy behind the local chapter that meets every Tuesday to discuss the need and to catch up with each other. There is no membership, but these crafters enjoy getting together to meet new people, to exchange ideas and to keep up to date on contributions, supplies and plans for upcoming projects. Some of them began sewing recently and some have been at it for years. Not all the quilts contributed are made in a class or at a retreat. Most of them are constructed by women at home using materials they have collected.
